Our Company

COVERAGE

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is the water and wastewater services provider for the 17 cities and municipalities that comprise the West Zone of the Metropolitan Manila area. It is an agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).

Maynilad is managed by Maynilad Water Holdings Company, Inc. —a joint venture between Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), DMCI Holdings, Inc. (DMCI) and Marubeni Corporation. The consortium took control of Maynilad on January 24, 2007.

In 1997, Maynilad was granted a 25-year exclusive concession by the Philippine Government to operate, maintain and invest in the water and sewerage systems in the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon, all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in the Province of Cavite.

On September 10, 2009, the MWSS Board of Trustees approved the extension of the expiry of its Concession Agreement with Maynilad by an additional 15 years, or up to May 2037.

MILESTONES

Wastewater
Maynilad provides sewerage and sanitation services to help protect the environment.

Even as it managed to dramatically improve its water services, Maynilad is also accelerating its wastewater investments in the West Zone.

Investments
Since 1997, Maynilad has spent billions of pesos to modernize the water and wastewater infrastructure in the West Zone.

Maynilad is committed to investing even more to protect the environment and to ensure the water supply of its current and future customers.
Network Expansion
To reach waterless communities in the West Zone, Maynilad prioritized the expansion of its water distribution network when it was re-privatized in 2007.
Water Losses
Non-revenue water (NRW) is water that was treated and "lost" in the pipe network because of leaks and pilferage.

Prior to its re-privatization in 2007, Maynilad had a staggering NRW level of 66%.

The company has since launched an aggressive NRW Management Program that involves pipe replacement, active leakage control, and network diagnostics, among other interventions, thus significantly reducing water losses within its concession area.

Access
In 2006, only 677,985 accounts were connected to Maynilad. Those unconnected to Maynilad’s network relied on expensive, unsafe sources to meet their daily water needs.

Today, over 1.4 million accounts, or over 9.7 million people, have piped-in water supply from Maynilad.

Supply
Less than half of Maynilad customers (32%) had 24-hour supply in 2006.

To address this, Maynilad focused on modernizing its distribution network and reducing its water losses. By 2014, the company was already providing uninterrupted water supply to 100% of its customers, including poor communities that were previously unconnected due to financial constraints and other limitations.

Pressure
Weak water pressure was a common problem in the West Zone before 2007.

Today, nearly all Maynilad customers receive their water supply at a sufficient pressure because of the massive infrastructure investments made by the company.
